In my opinion hair is actually a very personal thing, particularly for a woman. I don't know if I have ever been anywhere where they take hair more seriously than California. A short stroll around any major Los Angeles thoroughfare will reveal a myriad of women with perfectly cut, perfectly colored and perfectly styled hair. This is no accident. This is the work of countless numbers of individuals over a period of years working with each individual person to capture the essence of california hair.

I reside in Santa Monica, a city which has the good fortune of maintaining beautiful sunny weather 310 days out of every year. That means there are 310 days of every year that I can be absolutely fabulous looking when I walk out of the door without worrying about the rain devastating my carefully cultivated hairdo. While this certainly is an intriguing possibility it does me very little good without the assistance of a quality salon and top quality products to work with on my shimmering golden locks.

In any area where you have a great deal of sun, you have a great deal of heat. Heat dries out your hair. What could be worse than dry, split, frizzy hair? I'll tell you what. NOTHING! It's simply the worst. I feel fortunate to have discovered two product lines that address this incessant heat wave perfectly. Aveda has a product line called "Dry Remedy" that fortifies hair against those penetrating rays and has certainly done wonders for my hair. Be advised though, Aveda is not sold everywhere. Locating Aveda Products in Santa Monica is not a difficult task, you just need to find a quality Salon that stocks them. I ordinarily pick mine up at Fringe Salon, they seem to always have what I came for and they are one of the few salons in Santa Monica with truly green products. The other product I have experienced great luck with would be the Super Rich conditioner from Bumble and Bumble. In my experience you really can't go wrong with any products from either of those companies.

While I can honestly state that a number of the latest trending fashions, such as hair feather extensions, just aren't my thing, I have noticed many well done hair feather extensions in Santa Monica. Actually, to be honest, I feel that Santa Monica has some of the best hair I have ever seen. After chatting it up with a few random strangers with gorgeous hair I have heard tales of a special keratin treatment, brazilian blowouts, wedding hair to die for, and even the development of completely new colors by some of the talented hair colorists here.

Where am I going with all this? Let me just lay it out nice and clear for you. For those who have California hair, please treat it right. Your hair will adore you for taking such good care of it. Stick to using high grade, green products that fortify your hair naturally. Watch out for the heat-wave, and find a reputable salon to work with. Keratin Treatment
